Cairn also has an early entry and strategic frontier exploration position in Greenland, a country recognised by the United States Geological Survey as having significant yet-to-find hydrocarbon potential.

Cairn India
Cairn holds approximately 22% interest in Cairn India – which is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India. Cairn India has interests in 11 blocks in India and Sri Lanka.
On 8 December 2011, Cairn announced that it had completed the transaction with Vedanta Resources plc for the sale of 40% shareholding in Cairn India. For more information please see the announcement dated 8 December 2011.
Capricorn
Capricorn, a non-listed subsidiary, is exploration-led with a strategy of organic growth and value-enhancing acquisition. Capricorn's core assets are in Greenland and the Mediterranean.
