Corporate Responsibility in India

Cairn India is committed to the highest standards of Corporate Social Responsibility. We are committed to creating value through leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility. It is our conviction that continuous business growth, sustainable communities and the creation of value for our stakeholders go hand-in-hand.

In the first half of 2011, CIL has continued to support economic development, healthcare and education in Rajasthan through the Cairn Enterprise Centre. Some 95 students were trained in welding and car, motorcycle and diesel generator repair and maintenance, while 0.4 million litres of milk were collected at 13 collection centres to support the development of the local dairy industry. Over this period a Mobile Health Van treated 13,000 patients in 44 villages and three Mobile Science Vans visited 70 schools across Barmer district.

Other CR initiatives included:
• planting 25,000 trees in Rajasthan and 25,000 tree saplings in Banaskantha District;
• organising a workshop on ‘Environmentally Responsible Exploration & Production’ for Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board officials;
• celebrating World Environment Day at our Gurgaon office in June;
• a marine monitoring study, conducted by the Gujarat Ecology Society during dredging operations offshore Bhogat; and
• a biodiversity baseline survey, undertaken by the Gujarat Institute of Desert Ecology, to record the ecological status of five rivers along the Salaya–Bhogat Pipeline route.
