Purpose of Role

  • To provide accounting and reconciliation support within the Central Accounting team for G&A costs, monthly management accounts and intercompany recharges. To ensure timely, accurate processing and posting of all bank payments and receipts. To provide the support of a back office Treasury function as required.

Areas of responsibility

Main Responsibilities

Intercompany

  • Prepare and issue debit notes for all rechargeable time and third-party charges on a monthly basis and complete related accounting entries including foreign exchange adjustments
  • Prepare, issue and post monthly intercompany recharge accruals
  • Prepare and post monthly parent company overhead re-charges
  • Reconcile ICO accounts monthly and resolve any differences, follow up outstanding balances
  • Prepare and post settlements of monthly ICO balances
  • Prepare and post UK & Norway region overhead re-charge
  • Post monthly intercompany foreign exchange adjustments for third party recharges

Treasury

  • Process all payments through to release on Bottomline GT Cash and other banking systems and ensure that the appropriate authorised signatories release payments before cut-off each day for all payments
  • Post all Edinburgh Office bank entries for all bank accounts into Unit4 Business World
  • Process non AP treasury payments (cash calls, ICO settlements, FX trades, MM transactions, WHT, RCT payments, commodity hedges)
  • Prepare and post VAT repayments to subsidiaries
  • Prepare and post all month end Treasury Journals (inter-company, month end accruals, deposit or loan interest, ICO interest, ICO DN’s, commodity hedge recharges)
  • Prepare manual cheques/payments as required and arrange the deposit of cheques received
  • Maintain awareness of financial authorities / DOAs adhered to on all payments at all times
  • Ensure remote payments for overseas offices are verified and released
  • Investigate and resolve all payment issues
  • Prepare and provide E-business with monthly exchange rates
  • All treasury related P&L and B/S reconciliations as allocated
  • Review reconciliations and agree to monthly Treasury pack
  • Support Assistant Accountant in Treasury dept. as required
  • Vendor management – maintenance of supplier set up (supplier terms, payment types and supplier bank details) in Unit4 Business world
  • Vendor management - set up payment pre-formats in Citibank to enable supplier payments for relevant assets
  • Assist with queries and provide back up for interim and year end audits
  • Maintain Direct Debit records ensuring appropriate paperwork and financial authority is complete
  • Ensure that Money Market trades, FX trades and bank deposits are confirmed with financial institutions

Month End

  • Prepare journals as required including prepayments, deferred income and accruals
  • Journal entry/uplift as required
  • Bank Reconciliations – multi entity, multi-currency
  • Income Statement review and Balance Sheet reconciliations as assigned

Other

  • Provide cover/support to Central Accounting team
  • National Statistics Returns
  • Ad hoc tasks within the department as required
  • Assist with interim and year end audit
  • Contribute towards overall improvement of the Central Accounting

Skills/Experience Required

Education

  • Educated to HND/Degree level or considerable accounts assistant experience working within multi currency ledgers
  • Preferably actively studying towards an accounting qualification

Relevant Experience/Skills

  • Previous accounting experience essential
  • Intercompany billing experience essential
  • Unit 4 experience
  • Ability to work on own initiative and take ownership of responsibilities to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
