Role summary

This role will will be to ensure that all HSEQ matters related planning and execution of Cairn UK&NO Region operated activities are covered in accordance with internal and Authorities requirements and expectations. Further, this role will be essential in follow up activities towards partner operated licencenses. Particular focus will be on operated licences in the UK and Norway, ongoing development projects both in the UK and in Norway and non-operated exploration projects.


Areas of responsibility

Strategic

  • Monitor external developments health, safety and security issues that may affect the Company and make recommendations on the appropriate steps to address them

 

Management System

  • Maintain close involvement with colleagues and assets to assist in compliance with local legislation and group policies upholding and promoting HSE behaviours in line with company Principles, Policies and Procedures
  • Provide input to support development and maintenance of the regional procedures and management system
  • Provide support and updates to facilitate alignment of regional management system with Corporate management system

 

Reporting & Performance

  • Facilitate collection, interpretation and reporting of any relevant HSE related data
  • Initiate and follow up of well project’s HSE campaigns

 

Projects:

  • Preparation of Project Delivery Process (Gated Process) document deliverables.  Delivery of health, safety and environmental services to internal and external stakeholders including HSE permitting requirements (e.g. AfC etc)
  • Lead and support HSE aspects of project activities
  • Prepare and review environmental documentation related own operated and partner operated operations
  • Manage and participate in project hazard/risk related workshops and risk assessments
  • Develop and implement mechanisms and registers to ensure compliance with the commitments, permit/regulatory conditions and corporate requirements
  • Participate and lead audits and investigations as required
  • Support New Venture activities as required

 

Function

  • Act as competent HSE focal point for the specific projects
  • Work flexibly to support all functional activities as required
  • Occasional travel both within Norway and internationally

Note:-
Business travel on behalf of the company will be required. Assignmnets abroad could be required.


Skills/Experience Required

Education

  • Degree in a relevant technical discipline.

Relevant experience / Skills

  • Extensive prior experience gained in a HSE advisory role in UK &/or Norway, with an Oil and Gas Operator across seismic, drilling and operating activities
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of implementing HSE Plans, Procedures, Methods, Reporting, training to Norwegian (NORSOK)/UK (HSE)/EU/International standards- including developing/implementing HSE Policies and Procedures
  • Competence and experience in development and application of Consent Document/Safety Case, HAZOPs, HAZID, SIMOPs and Risk assessment
  • Accident / Incident Investigation competence
  • Adept at Planning, Organising, Coordinating and Communicating
  • Experience of MS Office
  • Experience of working in an international context
  • Experience of working with in a demanding operating team environment, and demonstrating a strong awareness of HSE and risk management issues
  • Track record and ability to communicate in high pressure situations
  • Familiar with interpretation of environmental impact and risk assesments and identifying actions as required  
  • Expereince from participating in Emergency Response Organisation
  • Expereince from planning and execution of HSE matters in drilling operations
  • Experince from auditing drilling contractors and service companies
  • Preferably experience in contributing to/ reviewing  PDO documentation
  • Experience with HSEQ activities related drilling operations in environmental sensitive areas
