Role summary

Manage UK tax compliance and assist with overseas

Provide assistance to Senior Tax Advisor and Group Tax Manager


Areas of responsibility

  • Prepare tax computations of active (and dormant as required) UK companies ( including North Sea Ring Fence) to submission level for review by Senior Tax Advisor (STA)
  • Research and draft replies to any HMRC correspondence
  • Prepare quarterly CT payment recommendations (as required)
  • Provide assistance with foreign branch/entity compliance & planning – involves liaison with overseas advisors and local staff
  • Review the tax in monthly/interim/ annual group forecasts and analyse movements
  • Provide assistance to Statutory Reporting Team with preparation of monthly group current and deferred tax journals
  • Prepare interim and year end current and deferred tax provisions and tax notes for group and solus accounts for review by STA
  • Review monthly VAT return and advise on VAT efficiencies
  • Review UK inter-company service agreements in place and ensure kept up to date; set up new UK agreements as appropriate
  • Assist with initial research into new country entry
  • Assist STA with update of transfer pricing documentation
  • Provide assistance in project work, including any due diligence work, as required
  • Advise Supply Chain department on tax clauses for procurement contracts both UK and overseas
  • Ad hoc technical research & advice on UK and international corporate tax, VAT and employment issues

Skills/Experience Required

Education

  • CTA qualification (or accounting qualification )with relevant experience of working in corporate tax

Relevant experience / Skills

  • Good UK corporation tax knowledge, including PAYE/NIC and VAT issues; ability to deal with both compliance and advisory issues
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Good communication skills – written & oral
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good knowledge of Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with IFRS
